A Trip to Canadian Rockies (resource from 孤鳥) resource from 孤鳥 My parents haven’t been to many trips; therefore, this year I decided to go vacationing with them to Canadian Rockies in Canada . It’s a four days trip with a tour group of about 30 people. I did not finish packing until 1:00 A.M. on Friday morning (9/1), and I only slept for 2 hours because we have to leave for the airport at 3:00 A.M. I know it’s a fairly early flight, but since I was so excited about the trip, so I really do not mind it at all. We got to the airport in about 45 minutes since there were not many cars at that time. Everything went smoothly until we have to wait in line 會場佈置for the baggage check; people were forming a long line in just 10 minutes. We did not wait for long at the gate, and then we were led to a small plane that carried about 60 some people only. The plane we took was Air Canada , and it flies nonstop to Calgary (about 4 hours of flight). Since I did not sleep much the night before, so I kind of fall asleep right away once I got on the plane. Although it’s a small plane; however, it went smoothly maybe because the weather was good and there was not much turbulence. When we arrived in Calgary , it was about 11:00 A.M. After we changed the currency at the airport, the tour guide led u seos to a big bus and took us to China Town for lunch. The bus has a capacity for 54 people, but since we only got 30 people in total, so I found myself a very comfortable seat at the back of the bus. My parents and I went for the Vietnamese food in China Town . The food is not cheap and is not as good as the ones in Houston . But what can I say? It’s better than nothing. After eating the lunch, we walked around the China town area for about 40 minutes and bought some snacks and fruits. At that time, I really appreciate what we have in Houston , you know, because our supermarkets in the China town here are much bigger with much more stuff. Oh, 系統傢俱almost forgot to mention, it’s much cheaper, too. After that, the bus drove us around the city of Calgary . During the time on the bus, the tour guide told us the history and some anecdotes about the places where we visited; it was pretty interesting. We visited the City hall, the park across it, and the Olympic Plaza. That night we stayed at the Days Inn in Calgary . Next morning we all got a morning call at 6:00 A.M. A continental breakfast was provided downstairs by the hotel. We quickly ate our breakfast and began our 2nd day trip at 7:00 A.M. We bought our lunch at the Chateau Lake Louise Deli place and sat by Lake Louise enjoying our meal. The weather was ni 酒店經紀ce and the scenery was beautiful. We’ve visited Moraine Lake , Lake Louise, Bow Lake , Peyto Lake , Athabasca Falls and Maligne Canyon that day. It was already 8 P.M. by the time we got to our hotel. The second night we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Jasper. On the third day, we were told to take all the warm cloth with us since we are going to visit the Columbia Ice fields. Since we started out early that morning, we went to shop for some souvenirs at the visitor center first. Then, by 10:30 A.M. at the Ice Field center, we switched to the snow shuttle and then to the snow bus that took us directly to the glacier field. The tires of the snow bus are specially made for driving on t 代償op of the snow; the driver told us that the maximum speed for the bus is 12 miles per hour. When we got to the ice field, the view was magnificent. Everything looks so white. The weather was pretty that day, so it’s really not as cold as we expected to be. We took a group picture there. The guide told us that we can take a bottle to get some glacier water there, but I forgot to do that. At noon, we had the lunch at the Ice Field center. After leaving the Ice Field at the Jasper National Park , we were heading to the Yoho National Park . On the way there, we stopped to see the spiral tunnels; however, we did not get a chance to see any trains passing there. At the Yoho National Park , we went to 有巢氏房屋 see the Emerald Lake and the Natural Bridge . The tour guide reserved for us to have a nice dinner at the Bumper’s Beef House Restaurant. We were told that Alberta Beef is famous and good, so we tried it. I think it tastes ok and the price is reasonable; we all had a nice and satisfying dinner there. However, I still think that Nan Ya BBQ still the best. That night we stayed at the Radisson Hotel at Canmore. On the last day, we still got up early in the morning because the tour guide said that she is going to show us few more places before we leave Canada . We went to see two more lakes at the Banff National Park , the Two Jack Lake and the Lake Minnewanka ; they were just beautiful, especially the view of Lake Minnewanka 九份民宿 is awe-inspiring. Then we went to take the Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain that is about 2281m (7486 feet) above sea level to have the overview of the town of Banff , the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, Bow Falls , and Lake Minnewanka . After leaving there, we went to the Cave & Basin to learn about the history of Canada ’s national park system and took some pictures at the viewpoint with the Fairmont Banff Spring Hotel. At the noon time, we were having lunch in a mall and shopping some more at the Banff Ave. We still need to drive for about 2 hours to the airport in Calgary , so we left in a hurry around 1:30 P.M. Fortunately, the traffic was not too bad so we were able to arrive at the airport about 3 hours prior to our 酒店經紀flight. After we checked in the luggage, we still got a lot of times, so I sat and listen to the music from my iPod. At 6:00 P.M. we got on the plane, after 4 hours of flight, we arrived at Houston IAH around 11:00 P.M. and finished with our 4 days 3 nights trip to the Canadian Rockies. To conclude, during this trip, we have visited 3 national parks ( Banff National Park , Jasper National Park , and Yoho National Park), 7 lakes ( Moraine Lake , Lake Louise, Bow Lake , Peyto Lake, Emerald Lake , Two Jack Lake , and Lake Minnewanka ), 2 falls ( Athabasca Falls and Bow Falls ), 1 canyon (Maligne Canyon), 1 icefields (Columbia Icefields), many beautiful sceneries and also have done some shopping at the visitor centers and the Banff Ave. I’ve been to fe 開幕活動w trips with other tour groups, and I think this one was really one of the best. Not only we have visited many places and have seen many nonstop, breath taking sceneries, I like our tour group as well. The tour guides are really nice and charming, I like them a lot. All the people in the group were from Taiwan ; that really makes me feel very comfortable and friendly. Besides, my parents happen to know many of the couples from the group; that was really a plus. Oh, almost forgot to mention, the cost to this trip was reasonable as well.
